Criteria for Awarding the memorial Medals and cash prizes

As decided at the AGM, the criteria for awarding the memorial medals and cash prize for the MD Radiology Part I and Part II examinations have been revised and approved by the Council.

Awarding of Memorial Medals and Cash prize for MD Radiology Part I and Part II examinations
Eligibility Criteria
MD Radiology Part II Medal and the cash prize
A candidate must:
- To be eligible for the gold medal, final aggregate of at least 70% in the examination held in December of the previous year.
- Pass the examination on the first attempt.
- Present a minimum of one scientific paper on Radiology at a local or international academic conference during the three years of training for the MD Radiology examination.
- A cash prize of Rs 100,000 will be given to the candidate who has become 1st in the merit order in MD Radiology Part II examination
- This will be awarded in addition to the Dr. S N B Talwatte Memorial Medal.
- To be eligible for the cash prize, the final aggregate marks should not be less than 60 % in the examination held in December of the previous year.
- If a candidate fails to meet the criteria for the Dr. S N B Talwatte Memorial Medal, he or she will receive the cash prize only if he/she fulfil the eligibility criteria for the cash prize.
MD Radiology Part I Medal
A candidate must:
- Achieve a final aggregate of at least 65% in the examination held in December of the previous year.
- Pass the examination on the first attempt.
Additional Requirements
- The candidate must be a postgraduate trainee who has undergone in-service radiology training
- The candidate must not have been found guilty in a court of law.
Selection Process
Eligible candidates will be interviewed by a panel appointed by the Council of B, consisting of:
- The Chairperson of the Board of Study in Radiology
- The Course Coordinator
- The Supervisor of the candidate
The panel will assess the candidate’s performance based on:
- Attendance and punctuality
- Practical experience gained
- Professional attitude and behavior
- Interactions with staff and patients during training
Only the 1st ranked candidates in the merit order of the MD Radiology Part I and MD Radiology Part II examinations will be invited for the interview to determine their eligibility for the medals and the cash prize
